Emese Mali, piano

Emese Mali is one of the foremost young pianists in Hungary. Ms. Mali graduated from the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in 2004, having studied with Katalin Schweitzer, Gyorgy Nador, Balazs Reti, and Marta Gulyas, and she is currently pursuing her doctorate.

Emese was awarded first prize in the Andor Foldes Competition in Budapest, 2000; a special prize by the International Mozart Foundation at the International Mozart Competition in Salzburg, Austria, 2002; second prize at the International Memorial Competition, "Stefano Marizza", Trieste, Italy; second prize at the International Chamber Music Competition, "Schubert and Modern Music" in Graz, Austria, 2003; two special prizes at the International Chamber Music Competition, "Premio Trio di Trieste", Trieste, Italy, 2003; and Grand Prize winner at the Los Angeles International Franz Liszt Piano Competition, 2004.

She has given numerous solo recitals and has appeared in chamber music programs sponsored by the National Philharmony, at the Budapest Spring Festival, and she has performed programs broadcast by Hungarian Radio.  Her international appearances include recitals at the Schloss Mirabell, Salzburg; Kensington Palace, London; the Arcopolium Festival Karthage and at the Czech festival named "Liszt and his contemporary" in Velke Brezno.  She has also performed recitals in Bratislava, Vienna (Bösendorfer-hall), Moscow, Bucharest, London, Helsinki (Sibelius Academy), Stuttgart, Prague (Klementinum),Rome, Mauritius and the United States (Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco).
