Violinist Corey Cerovsek “is a formidable talent whose playing combines an exciting spontaneity and a powerful technique with an old-world charm,” writes The New York Times. He has performed with dozens of orchestras internationally, and in recitals at Washington’s Kennedy Center, New York’s Lincoln Center and Boston’s Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, where he appears regularly. Born in Vancouver, Canada, Corey began violin studies at age five, and four years later won the grand prize over 3,000 other musicians in the Canadian Music Competition. At age 12, he enrolled as an undergraduate student in music as a student of Josef Gringold and mathematics at Indiana University. He received bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and music at age 15, masters in both at 16, and completed his doctoral course work in mathematics and music at age 18.

Cerovsek recorded the complete Beethoven violin sonatas with pianist Paavali Jumppanen in fall 2006 for an award-winning three-disc set released by Claves. Prior to the recording, the duo performed the sonatas live at the Gardner Museum in 2003 and 2004.
